Ryan Wilcox (they/them) is a Transfemme/Nonbinary and Autistic theatre creator and settler in We'kwampekitk / Truro, NS. Ryan studied Production Design at the National Theatre School of Canada and their work has brought them across Mi’kma’ki as a designer, producer, educator, and artist advocate. They have been turning their focus to building community and expanding their personal arts practices. Over the past year they have tried crochet, lino block prints, needlepoint felting, and screenprinting, and they have been a visual artist since they were 15. The resurgence of human rights movements and the first several waves of Covid-19 has left Ryan with a hope to build a healthier and happier community. As such, Ryan has become an artist advocate, championing for more inclusive, diverse, and accessible spaces across Atlantic Canada through initiatives such as Theatre Direct’s Balancing Act, providing early career artists with developmental opportunities, and being a resource for local queer and artist community members.
