Wild Things at SoloFest

I wrote, produced, and performed in my first play at LunaSea Theatre’s inaugural SoloFest at the Bus Stop Theatre Coop in October. Wild Things is a semi-autobiopgraphical exploration of queer self actualisation. Sam, a nonbinary drag performer on their way to a drag storytime, has been slsuhied by their queerphobic brother, and spirals out of control in a library closet. Sam is left questioning their queerness, trauma, and past love and wondering if being Queer is worth it.

The writing and rehearsal processes are both very new to me, however with trusted colleagues both new and old, I was able to commit to the project fully, gaining a better understanding of an actor’s and writer’s creative pprocesses, and how to approach creative processes that deal with traumatic events. I’m excited to have furthered my understanding of trauma informed processes and effecctive storytelling and I can’t wait to develop the piece further. Keep your eyes peeled for some production photos rfom SoloFest!
